Not sure if I have experienced paranormal activity. Many years ago lived in a house said to be haunted and I had some strange experiences. I wrote about this before. You can read here. The topic itself has always interested me. I can watch any movie on the subject. I recently saw the new film "Paranormal Activity" and I wondered what it would be interesting to talk to someone who investigate these things. I use to have a friend who was an aunt, but lost contact with them for years. So anyway just a few days after watching "Paranormal Activity" I was alerted to a comment left on one of my articles. It turns out that the commentary was byBrenton Buckner, who is principal investigator of Paranormal Dayton Investigators. It wonder just when I'm interested in talking with a paranormal investigator leave a comment on an old article of mine. So I went to the website you left the comment and wrote and asked if I could interview him. Brenda was more than willing to answer all my questions and to go into details with your answers. I hope you enjoy this interview with Brenton Buckner Dayton paranormal investigators and if you are experiencing Paranormal Activity perhaps this interview will give you the information you need to get done help. When Dayton Paranormal investigators and what he did start to get involved in this? Give us an idea of IPRs can not learn from reading your site? Dayton paranormal investigators is basically the culmination of a lifetime of experience and fascination with the supernatural. It is difficult to pinpoint an exact date, because it has always been part of my life. Existed in many forms before putting a name on it, but the name is about 5 years old. The website is one year old. I understand that DPI is necessary to understand the context in which it was born. I'm not a native of Ohio. I was born in the deep south religious. I grew up in the area that inspired the Wind in a small town called Jonesboro, Georgia. My father was a minister and raised in the Pentecostal and charismatic churches. At that time, the Catholic Church (which had been for a long time people went to the place when they needed guidance supernatural experiences) is trying to stay relevant in an increasingly secular world. Were shunning anything that has to do with the paranormal. I think the number of exorcists ordered dropped into single digits. Pentecostal and Charismatic Church stepped in to fill the void left by the Catholic Church. Do not hesitate to things like demonic possession, exorcism, divine healing, prophesy, and other supernatural aspects of Christianity. In fact, embraced him. So this was the environment I grew up in. It seemed that the supernatural was all around me. The demons were driven out by the hundreds. People were claiming it was miraculously cured. People were speaking in tongues. People would say he had a message from God for you. Everything was pretty scary for a young child. As I got older, I began to see things that made me question what was happening in the churches. Much of this seemed to be more than one interpretation of a legitimate supernatural experience. I think things got out of hand and became more of being accepted and validated by the group on a genuine personal experience. So did that mean that everything I saw was fake? How could I separate what is real and what was not? Everything was a mess in the time. When who turned 18 I joined the army and became what they call a "human intelligence collector." He is a researcher, the interrogator side and the intelligence agent against. I learned a lot about research, interviews and information processing from the truth. Unfortunately, my military career was cut short due to injury caused leg cramps every time I walked through very long distances. However, I have gained experience in the army would prove to be valuable in the investigation of paranormal. When left the army, entered the ministry. Since he was ordained by the same kind of church I grew up, I had the opportunity to experience the supernatural as an agent of the Church. This was different for me because I was in control of the situation. May decide whether something is legitimate or not. It was there where I had my first real experience undeniable supernatural. Most of my experiences were with what I would call evil spirits. I was lucky to be sponsored by two men from very different cultures than mine. One was a former Buddhist monk who converted to Christianity and became a minister. The other was a man who founded ten churches in Zimbabwe, Africa. The supernatural played a greater role both in the cultures of these men in the mine. I learned a lot from both. While the church was affiliated with was quite willing to talk about angels and demons, ghosts were a different story. In most churches, the subject of ghosts is very taboo. Today, most churches in America do not openly discuss the issue and anyone who does is usually said. Many churches teach that ghosts do not exist, but as a student of the Bible myself, I could not see that Scripture is so clear on the subject. Much of what the Church teaches on the subject is based on the traditional translation of the Scriptures. In search of Scripture for my own answers, I could not draw the same conclusions that many of my colleagues did. I saw a Bible full of the supernatural. I saw people able to communicate with the dead. I saw the ghost of a prophet speaking from the grave. I saw that the disciples believed in ghosts. Once I left the ministry, I had the opportunity to talk with Christians about their belief in the supernatural and I found that many of them felt the same way as I did. Studies show that even though they are taught otherwise, over a third of Christians believe in ghosts. I found that many of these same people have experiences that could not explain. In his view, it could turn to church for fear of being ridiculed or labeled as "possessed." That's really when it started for me. I started to help those who felt they had nowhere else to go. That is what differentiates DPI apart from many other "ghost hunters" groups. They focus on the dead. We focus in life. What exactly what to do, what is their part in Dayton paranormal investigators? I am the founder and principal investigator for the Department of Public Information. I'm very hands. Basically, coordinate and conduct any investigation that may be involved in. Do you really believe in paranormal activity? Yes, certainly. Even if he had never experienced in my life, I can not deny that it has been part of human experience for as long as history has been recorded. Some of the oldest religious writings speak of entities such as angel and devil. In Asia, there is a belief in ghosts documented as early as 800 BC. If you look at some of the existing older works of Western literature, is a common belief in ghosts. There is a ghost in the Iliad. There is a ghost in the History of Herodotus. There is also a ghost in the Oresteia. There are historical accounts that the ghost of the Roman emperor Caligula appeared for some time after his death. The first historians Plutarch and Pliny the Younger wrote about sightings of ghosts. It is as much a part of the structure of human experience as love and tragedy. Simply I can not believe that something that seems to be an important part of the collective consciousness of the human race could be entirely based on fiction. You can share a story or two? And tell us the scariest thing you've experienced? As a minister and servant of the church I saw a lot of what I would call evil spirits. I found a person who was what we call "perfectly possessed." That is when a person has given his whole body to a demon or evil entity. No longer is a battle being waged. The person has fully surrendered. This is extremely rare. In this case, the person moves in ways that are contrary to human nature. He slid across the floor like a snake in a way that is physically impossible for me to replicate. Be ejected black thick substance that smelled of sulfur. His face contorted in ways that seem impossible to do with our current muscle structure. They spoke in tongues and voices that sounded very different from yours. I have also seen the allegedly haunted or possessed objects move by themselves. Since leaving the church and become a paranormal investigator I've seen a lot of the same. Once you commit to do these things, see and hear all sorts of things, but for your own sanity do not think of them when they have to do with a case. I'm much more afraid than normal than I am of the paranormal. Hate crawl spaces and attics unused. I've been afraid many times by a squirrel that load on me by a ghost. Possums and raccoons have an ability to hide in some of the scariest places in the house. I do not like bees and I can do without the spiders. When I was young, I had an experience that scared me. I was in 8th grade at the time and I see the movie The Exorcist with a friend and her little brother. They were Catholics and had a statue of the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus in her arms sitting on top of the television. As we went to see the movie, the statue (for no apparent reason) broke in half. Mary's head just fell right of the statue. We feel that only a very evil presence in the room. So was the shadow of a large bird circling the room, but there was no bird. The three of us in the room saw what happened. We all feel the same thing.I tried to tell my parents, but not reprimanded me to see the movie. Viewing this film was not acceptable to my parents Pentecostals. I tried to tell a minister, but was reprimanded once just to see what kind of movie. Nobody was willing to help me understand or deal with what I had experienced. I felt alone in her and that is probably why I do what I do today. I do not want people to feel alone when they are experiencing something like this. There many momentary scares in most investigations. When you hear an explosion in a dark basement, you will go. Any person, but remember why you there and back to work. Do not let fear hold me when I'm in an investigation because I think some organizations feed on negative energy. I have no fear of ghosts as most of them are just residual energy and it does not take much energy to manifest or move down to the smallest of objects. I have no fear of demons, because I know that I have power over them and you can really only do what they can do. What is your approach to a new case? We do things differently than most paranormal research groups, because our mission is probably different than most of them. They are not really what most people would consider a "ghost hunting" group. We are not interested in proving that there is a ghost in the old abandoned warehouse. Do not sneak into the cemetery in the middle of the night or lock ourselves in an abandoned hospital in search of ghosts. We do classic ghost hunting, do research. Do not go looking for ghosts and we hope you come to us.I do not want to sound as if looking down on groups that do such things. I see the merit that if done the right way. They are doing something important, but that's not something that interests us in the case doing.A really starts for us when they are contacted by someone who believes he is experiencing paranormal activity. Normally we are through word of mouth or through the website. I will carry out an initial interview with the client, which is about 40 standard questions. The answer to these questions will give me a better understanding of what is going on and (perhaps most importantly) how the client feels about what is happening. From this interview I will develop a profile for the case. I will use this profile to determine whether it is a case that should make me feel DPI. There is much that goes into this decision. Sometimes it is distressing. There is more to it than most people think. I want to help everybody, but not all cases will benefit from this type of investigation. For some groups the most important question is whether they believe there is paranormal activity present or not. That's not really the case of IPR. The most important question for me is if the client really believes that there is something paranormal going on. So I want to see how they feel about it. Is it fear or fascination? This all goes back to our philosophy of focusing on life and not the dead. Never make a determination about what is really happening until after an investigation. I guess there's a perfectly natural explanation for everything. Sometimes, though I know there is a natural explanation for what the client has described, it will take the case anyway. I think this is another thing that makes us different from many other groups. If the customer is really in fear of what is happening, I do not care if I think I'll pick the right evidence or not. DPI only matters if I can make a difference in the lives of those involved. We went through a lot of cases. Not accept cases of clients who are looking to validate that your location is obsessed with commercial purposes. We do not take cases where the client is not seeking help. We do not take cases of customers who are not willing to be honest with us. It is important that we know about some very personal issues such as drug use, drugs or a history of psychological problems. There are myriad reasons why you can not take a case. I may ask a client to do a second interview with someone who works with the computer that has a different area of experience than me. For example, we have a certified building inspector, a psychologist and a minister who is a team member or a friend of the team that I can ask to interview clients. Many times, customers are looking for a consultation. They can not be prepared to open your home to strangers. They just want to know how they can improve their situation on their own. I understand this and I spent a lot of my personal time of the advice may be experiencing paranormal activity, either by phone or email. Once you decide to take a case. I will decide what the staffing needs of the box are. I think a smaller, well-formed and mature group of researchers is much more suited to an investigation of this nature to a large group of people with different levels of experience and reasons for being there. I give my personal selection, and often are former clients. We have only two members of full-time staff and all others only asked to be part of the research in specific skill set customer support. I only choose people who have a heart for helping people. Do not choose people who just want to see ghosts. Most people I work with have seen enough of the paranormal that will last a lifetime, the only reason they are willing to see again is to help someone. We conducted the initial investigation and then move a week or less to review evidence. Then the client will meet and decide if you need something else to do. We continue to follow up with the customer during the time they want to maintain that relationship. Do you charge for your services? Why or why not? We have never charged a penny for everything we do. We do not accept donations either. We believe in "Pay It Forward" method of payment. If Dayton was aided by paranormal investigators, we ask that you be willing to help another person who may be in the situation in the future. That's it. As I said, because we want to help people who feel they have nowhere else to go. The church refuses to help people. Police fail to investigate the paranormal. If not, who will? What kind of equipment is used in research? It really depends on the situation. The most important piece of equipment is our brain and our senses. Sometimes you can have all the scientific equipment in the world saying that everything is normal when everyone in the room knows it is not. Sometimes we can be so focused on reading equipment that we lack the most evident in the case. That That said, we collect all possible evidence. We use digital voice recorders to collect electronic voice phenomena. We use video cameras with night vision to pick up live-action video. We use digital SLR cameras to collect photographic evidence. We use electromagnetic field detectors to measure fluctuations in electromagnetic fields. We also use a standard thermometer and an infrared thermometer to measure changes in temperature. We can experiment with other equipment such as camera traps, infrared cameras, or even more experimental equipment depending on the situation. In your opinion, what is the Paranormal Activity wrong when it is? Most things have logical explanations. Animals are an important part of the reported paranormal activity, especially in rural areas. It can be raccoons in the attic, a cat in the basement or rats between the walls. Many times there is a structural problem with the building itself. That's why we are the only team I know who has a certified inspector of commercial and residential buildings can be called in could be faulty wiring, poor insulation or a base change that causes some reports. Other times, it is a psychological effect. I have a lot of reports of people who watch a lot of paranormal investigation television shows and then begin to interpret every bump in the night like a ghost. You never know what will investigation. One find something that is often mistaken for a type of paranormal activity and appears to be another thing is what we call a residual haunting or a residual ghost. We do not know what causes it, but what many people perceive the ghosts are actually moments in time that follow are repeated and repeated. A good example of this can be found in almost all the major battlefields of the world. For example, in Gettysburg, people report seeing entire battalions of soldiers marching to battle, but these soldiers are alien to our own presence. You can call them, get in your way or attempt to participate in any way you choose and will not react. There are ghosts in the traditional sense. They are not disembodied spirits that retain the ability to communicate and think like they did when they were alive. They are not really there. It's more like a movie. This can happen on a smaller level too. If the grandmother sat in the same chair every day for 20 years and shook, wastewater can be an unforgettable experience where rocks chair for himself. That does not mean that the grandmother is there in the room with you. It simply means that there is some residual energy still present in that room. Have you ever been able to obtain any documentary evidence? Nothing that I would feel comfortable presenting to the public for two reasons. First, the very nature of what paranormal investigators do in Dayton is a very personal and private. We are not interested in the pursuit of ghosts or spirits in abandoned buildings or the like. While I find such legends on a personal level, which is not what we're about. We get involved only when the natural and supernatural world seem to be of intersection. Most of our cases tend to focus on the most places. Therefore, there are always people behind our cases. May be your neighbors or your boss. Often involve children. This makes it difficult to present evidence to the public. Secondly, I have a very high standard for what qualifies as evidence. As a photographer myself decent, I do not trust most of the photographic evidence I see. Of course, do not take into account any area or streaks of light paranormal tests. I have taken hundreds and thousands of pictures and that sort of thing can happen on any image anywhere. I also believe that most of EVP (electronic voice phenomena) the subjective test is best. 99% of the time, I can give you what I think is a CEO and you will not be able to make sense, but if I put the tip on the head so I think it says you are listening too. The researcher in me is wary of that. I need something concrete to qualify as evidence. In the end, I wonder if anyone will be able to collect irrefutable evidence of the paranormal. There is a paradox in the attempt to measure the supernatural with the natural equipment. Major advances in this field has been carried out by men and women with little more than paper and pencil. . . people like William James and Hans Holzer. If you and I are in a room and the two experienced something paranormal, but not recorded in any of my team, does that not happen? You and I always have evidence in the way of personal experience that means more to us than any EVP or photo. The new film Paranormal Activity has created a lot of rumors. It is a movie that has scared many people have seen. I was not able to sleep for two nights after seeing it. Every noise in the house woke me up. Brenton asked if he had seen the film and what is your opinion was.Yes I went to see my girlfriend who is also a researcher. I actually enjoyed on many levels. I was surprised that was about demonic possession. I had the impression that it was a ghost. He was a very smart shock. They do not need special effects and big budget Hollywood stylized monsters. Scare you with things that are already afraid. That's what was brilliant about it. What do you think of the way portrayed Paranormal Activity? You know, my girlfriend and I commented on how they did their research. They obviously read a lot of information on possession. I would say that until the last 10 minutes of the movie is a classic case of demonic oppression. I've seen this same story is evident in real life. It happens more or less like this ... very subtle at first and then progresses. The ending is not realistic. In fact, the worst cases of demonic oppression, as they often end in suicide. Do you know what exactly causes ghosts, angels or demons? Nothing causes demons or angels. They are spiritual beings that existed long before you or me. They have a mind, will and emotions. They are working both in the spiritual and natural realm, whether we believe in them or not. The ghosts are a different story. Another thing that sets DPI, apart from a lot of ghost hunting groups is that we do not believe in any form of coexistence with the ghosts. If ghosts are here, they are not meant to be here. It's not something out of order. Something went wrong in the natural process that occurs after death. If a client tells me not want to get rid of the ghost, but what they want is to find a way to live with the ghost, not take the case. If the ghost of someone you know, then you should want that person to pass whatever the next chapter of your journey. If the ghost is not someone you know, then why want them in your home or business? If they are the disembodied spirit of a human being, then the result, are still people. Would you let another stranger living in your home? This is one of the many things people take to see programs like Ghost Hunters Paratainment I am constantly editing. People think it is fashionable now to have a pet ghost. It is not. It can be dangerous sometimes. That's one of the main reasons it went public with websites. How you about how to stop demons, ghosts and paranormal activity in general? Each case is different. It is not really a step-by-step to rid your home of paranormal activity. No two cases alike. If is a case involving demons or some other evil spirit, then you should first determine why it is there. In my experience, this type of alcoholic beverages can only be entered through a door that opened one person involved in the case. It is not always obvious. Usually not as dramatic as Satanic rituals or a pact with the devil. Usually much more subtle. It may be a decision made, that seemed insignificant at the time. Once you find that door, then you can close. If there is a ghost involved, and again the first step is to figure out why they are there. This can be difficult because most of the ghosts are not powerful enough to communicate with the living. They do not realize they have died? Are they trying to pass a message along last before dying? Are you here to warn us of something? Are they afraid to face death sentence for something they did in life? Can be any number of reasons, but in any case do not belong here. Are not where they are supposed to and we have to help them get there. In some cases you can do to help the spirit to realize where it is assumed that in some cases, you have to get a little harder and let the ghosts do not know they are welcome in the world live more time. Is there anything else you want people to know? If you are experiencing what you believe paranormal activity, you're not alone. There are people who are willing and able to help. Dayton paranormal investigators has helped many people in the same situation. Many of us have been in your position ourselves at a time. If you are in the Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus or Northern Kentucky area and would like to contact us, there is a contact form on our website. Everything is completely confidential and nothing will happen that you are not completely comfortable.
